More than a hundred British police officers are trying to help the authorities disembark dozens of illegal migrants on the coast between Portsmouth and Hastings.
Protesters blocked the streets in Gosport so the authorities, whose remit is actually to protect the British public and keep the borders secure, are now looking for others ports.
The RNLI and border force ships had turned off their location-tracking on Tuesday evening amid concerns they would be followed by protesters.
Police blocked off some roads near the port in Dover where about a dozen protesters gathered on Tuesday night.
Earlier, about 200 protesters turned out in Gosport, Hants, after it was reported that asylum seekers were headed to the town.
A number of men wearing black, several with face coverings, faced off against dozens of police officers, chanting “send them back”.
At around 7pm it was confirmed the migrants were being taken away from Hampshire by a Border Force vessel to Dover, more than 150 miles away.
Police officers told people “we’ve been told to let you know that there will be no landing here this evening” as they encouraged people to leave.
