A poll of 1,500 Victorians earlier this year found 57 per cent oppose gender ideology taught in primary schools.
73 per cent opposed puberty-suppressing drugs for children.
75 per cent opposed biological males in women’s prisons.
Strong opposition outweighed every other response category.
The ACL-commissioned poll, conducted by Pollfish between March 5 and 18, also found 53 per cent oppose gender ideology in secondary schools, versus 26 per cent in support.
More than 65 per cent said children shouldn’t access gender-related health services without parental notification.
55 per cent opposed taxpayer funding for sex-change procedures.
“For years, many Victorian parents suffered in silence,” ACL Victorian Director Jasmine Yuen said. “They believed they were alone, or that something was wrong with their parenting.”
Victoria’s Respectful Relationships program teaches children as young as five that gender is not binary. It strips “brothers and sisters” from classroom language in favour of “siblings.”
A government spokesperson defended the program as “nation-leading.” “In Victoria,” she said, “equality is not negotiable.”
More than 1,800 parents and grandparents had already signed an ACL letter urging the Victorian premier to remove these policies from schools.
The polling landed days after the Australian Human Rights Commission called for puberty blocker pauses to be lifted and religious protections stripped from faith-based schools — built on a bare 97 submissions.
ACL’s poll, by contrast, surveyed 1,500 Victorians.
ACL chief executive Michelle Pearse said the Australian Human Rights Commission had named her organisation among those “they want silenced.”
Victoria heads to the polls in November. Gender indoctrination in schools will doubtless be one of the issues voters will be considering this time around.
