It has emerged that there is a serious and developing crime problem across Stellenbosch and Macassar.
Those involved have painted a picture of organized criminal syndicates, rather than random break-ins

- 24 July: 3 masked men use heavy crowbars to storm Neethlingshof Farm. They hold families hostage and hunt for firearms and safe keys before escaping in a white Toyota Corolla. Zero arrests made.
- 25 July: SAPS raids a farm in Croydon (Macassar) -just down the road. They find an illegal 9mm Taurus handgun, unlicensed alcohol, and two smuggled rhino horns.
Police not being open about a serious problem
The syndicate corridor: Neethlingshof and Croydon sit on the exact same highway connection.
Organized network: Armed farm home-invasions and heavy contraband trade (rhino horns) don’t happen by accident. Unlicensed guns in Macassar directly fuel farm attacks in Stellenbosch.
Bureaucratic failure: Police treat these as separate minor crimes while community NPOs do their job for them. The masterminds behind these operations walk free.
